We are now inviting applications to participate in “I Had Too Much to Dream Last Night”, a performance and wine tasting event as part of WayWORD Festival 2026.
This immersive evening brings together live performance, visual art and wine in a shared communal setting. Rather than a traditional performance night, artists will present existing work that has been thoughtfully reimagined for the event, with each performance paired with a wine selected in response to its themes, mood or imagery.
We are seeking artists with pre-existing work that responds to the theme: I Had Too Much to Dream Last Night.
Whether interpreted literally or metaphorically, we welcome work exploring dreams, memory, fantasy, surrealism, transformation, desire, illusion, sleep, subconscious landscapes, and the strange spaces between reality and imagination.
We welcome applications from:
★ Visual artists
★ Poets
★ Performers
★ DJs and musicians
★ Artists working across disciplines
Applicants may apply as individuals or duos, and must be based in Aberdeen or nearby.
We are looking for existing work that can be adapted into a live presentation of up to five minutes which will be performed in the evening of Thursday 8 October in Old Aberdeen.
Selected artists will work collaboratively with the event curator to explore how their work might be reimagined specifically for this unique format.
This is not simply a performance night. We’re interested in work with a strong poetic sensibility that may include poetry, prose, monologue, visual art, sound, movement or hybrid forms that blur disciplinary boundaries. We’re particularly excited by artists interested in experimentation and collaboration. Each selected work will become part of a curated wine tasting experience, where performance, conversation and wine combine to create an immersive evening.
Applications will be reviewed by a panel of festival organisers, and selections will be made based on artistic quality, originality and suitability for the event.
Fees Selected artists will receive a fee of £125.
Deadline for application: 1 September 2026
