Sustainability FAQs
We are committed to building an environmentally sustainable festival. There are several ways we try to achieve this:
Travel
We ask everyone attending the festival to consider sustainable modes of travel. We provide information on travelling by bus on the ‘find us’ pages, as well as encouraging performers to use public transport.
Accommodation
When selecting accommodation for performers we choose venues which are on public transport routes near to the venues and transport hubs.
Catering
We work with our catering provider to provide vegetarian, vegan and locally-sourced produce for our green room, as well as reusable tableware.
Online & livestream
Where we can, we broadcast events wholly online or via livestream. This allows people to appear or attend from all over the world, without travel.
Programming
Our youth committee always programmes events exploring or considering themes of nature, environment and sustainability.
Institutional goals
We are part of the University of Aberdeen whose 2040 strategy has Sustainable as one of its four core themes. You can read the university’s Sustainable Development Goals report and more here.
