Don’t miss this pop-up contemporary dance performance of a newly commissioned piece created especially for WayWORD Festival. Choreographed by Taylor Han, and inspired by Cetacea, the collaborative spoken word and music whale song project by Lesley Harrison, Alex South and Katherine Wren, the young dancers of Fusion will bring you this short piece followed by Q&A
Fusion Youth Dance Company is Citymoves Dance Agency's flagship youth company under the direction of dancer and choreographer Laura Booth. Based in Aberdeen, the company is for young dancers aged 12-18. Fusion works with a variety of choreographers and regularly performs on stage and outdoors. Recently, the company has created pieces with All or Nothing Aerial Dance Theatre, Katie Armstrong, Rosie Mackley and Dawn Hartley, and worked with Steven Martin to create a new outdoor piece for Spectra!
Taylor Han is a contemporary dance artist from Dundee, passionate about exploring improvisation as performance and the connection between music and dance. She strives to make work that emulates a sense of humanity, connection, and intimacy between the performers and the audience. Taylor graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2018 with a First Class BA(Hons) in Contemporary Dance. After graduating, she studied at London Contemporary Dance School. Taylor worked with EDGE Dance Company as part of her MA in Contemporary Dance and toured across the UK and Europe whilst studying. Taylor graduated with an MA in Contemporary Dance with Distinction. Taylor works professionally as a performer and choreographer. Most recently Taylor has performed in her own work "With Catastrophic Consequences" at venues including DanceBase, Pianodrome and Citymoves Dance Agency for DanceLive festival. Taylor recently choreographed "Conversations on Care" for the Space BA Hons students for their final year show in 2022 and her work for Scottish Dance Theatre's Young Company "Twenty Past Eight on a Sunday" was performed at Dundee Rep, DanceLive and Shaper Capers event "Creatiful" in Dundee. Taylor also choreographs on Horizons Dance Company for YDance and works as Creative Engagement Officer for Scottish Ballet, delivering workshops and talks for them across Scotland.
